ALASKA

WHERE WILDERNESS STIRS THE SOUL

Observe wildlife up close like nowhere else on earth, in Alaska

Alaska feels vast from the moment you arrive. Glaciers carve through valleys, snow-capped peaks rise beyond dense evergreen forests, and the air carries that crisp, untouched stillness that makes an Alaska holiday feel worlds away from everyday life.

This is a place where nature sets the pace. Picture cruising past towering ice walls as they crack and tumble into the sea, watching morning mist lift off glassy lakes, or standing quietly as a bald eagle circles overhead. An Alaska trip invites you to slow down and take it all in.

Wildlife encounters are part of the magic. You might spot humpback whales breaching beside your Alaska cruise ship, brown bears fishing along riverbanks, or moose moving calmly through open meadows in Denali’s wilderness. These moments don’t feel staged — they feel real, raw, and unforgettable.

Whether you choose to explore by Alaska cruise, an Alaska scenic rail journey, or an immersive land-based Alaska trip, there are many ways to experience this remarkable destination — each offering its own perspective on one of the world’s last truly wild places.

ALASKA

THE APPEAL

Alaska calls to those who want to:

  • Observe closely. Watch whales, bears, eagles and moose in their natural environment and feel like you're the narrator of the latest David Attenborough documentary.

  • Soak in the scenery. Gaze at towering peaks, dramatic glaciers and endless horizons that make you feel wonderfully small.

  • Experience the frontier lifestyle.  Visit raw, untamed places and hear stories of the last frontier.

  • Escape.  Many parts of Alaska are accessible only by boat or plane and provide a completely off-grid experience perfect for those who want to get away from it all.

Not sure how to get started?  I can recommend some options to help you identify your Alaska holiday style, preferences and budget.

ALASKA

GETTING THERE

An Alaska holiday often begins at either Seattle or Vancouver. Both are easily accessible for Australian east coast travellers, with flights, year-round from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne. Cairns travellers have a great option to fly via Fiji and enjoy a stop-over too!

For those who don't relish the thought of a long-haul flight, you might like to cruise your way to Alaska. Repositioning cruises that start from the Australian eastern sea-ports and travel across the Pacific are a great option to avoid cramped economy seating and reheated airplane meals.

Not sure whether to fly or cruise across to Alaska?  I’ll help you choose the easiest route for your time and comfort.
